About New Zealand

North Island, New Zealand

The North Island, is as its name indicates, is the northern-most of New Zealand’s two main islands.

It has a warmer, more temperate climate than much of the South Island, and is much more vastly populated. The North Island is home to NZ’s largest city —Auckland, also known as the ‘City of Sails’, and the Capital City of New Zealand—Wellington.

The northern areas of the North Island are sub-tropical. The centre of the island is primarily a volcanic landscape with expansive forests, volcanic peaks, and picturesque lakes. The eastern side of the island is where you’ll find a plethora of vineyards.

South Island, New Zealand

The South Island is the larger, and southern-most of New Zealand’s two main islands. With an area of 151,215 square kilometers (58,093 square miles), it is the 12th largest island in the world.

The largest city in the South Island is Christchurch and is known as the ‘Garden City’ due to its many stunning gardens and tree-lined streets.

Queenstown, famous as the adventure capital of the world is also found in the South Island

The west coast is lined by the Southern Alps mountain ranges with Aoraki/Mount Cook being the highest point at 3,754 meters (12,316 feet) above sea level.

There is a saying that when the earth was made, the creator too all the best bits of geography from everywhere,
downsized them a little,
and put them all in the North and south Islands of New Zealand.

He then placed our wonderful country at the bottom of the world so it could remain virtually untouched.
In such a small land mass you can experience a plethora of geography, from the tropical far north to the alpine mountains, lakes and fiords of the South Island.

If you happen to be one of the 12 people that hasn’t seen the Lord of the Rings movies;
the story may have been fictional, but we still haven’t taken down the scenery.

Apart from breathtaking vistas, there are plenty of options for activity.
New Zealanders’ are an inventive lot and once we come up with an idea, we like to share!
Experience just a few of our creations such as bungy jumping, jet boating, black water rafting, zorbing, canyon swinging or fly by wire.

If you prefer more traditional pursuits there are always award winning wineries, deep sea, trout or salmon fishing,
Surfing or snow skiing, Mountaineering or hiking.

There are really just too many options available to mention on one page!

Don’t take our word for it as we are a little biased.
Come and experience what we have to offer.
We pretty much guarantee you’ll have a great time no matter what you’re looking to experience.
Once you finally leave our shores you’ll begin to understand that

New Zealand is not just a country,

it’s an emotion.
